Revival expands into Cheshire East

Revival is launching a new service to help older people regain confidence and reconnect with their community after COVID-19 in Cheshire East.

The pandemic has hit older people the hardest with many left still struggling with confidence, mental and physical health. One in three older people say their anxiety is much worse than at the start of the pandemic and 45% of people over 70 say they are uncomfortable leaving their home because of COVID-19.

Revival, who already provide support services across Staffordshire and Derbyshire, will now have a dedicated team helping people in Crewe, Nantwich and Rural, Sandbach, Middlewich, Alsager, Scholar Green and Haslington.

The Reconnect Team will help rebuild confidence with everyday tasks, help people reconnect with their community, address loneliness, support with mental health and signpost to other services based on their needs.

Operations Manager Alison Lawson explains: “We’re excited to be launching the new Reconnect Service in Cheshire East.

“We know there are lots of older people who are struggling to get back to normal after the pandemic. Many older people were asked to shield from the virus at the start of the pandemic and although this is no longer required many are now too cautious to leave their home.

“It’s having a knock-on effect to their general health and wellbeing with many people in Cheshire East now needing support.

“Our team will meet customers, complete a needs assessment and put a support plan in place to help them regain confidence and reconnect with their community. We’ll then regularly check in to support customers with their progress.

“The hope is to improve the overall health, wellbeing and confidence of local people to help them live happier, healthier and longer at home.
