At Revival, we work alongside people during challenging times, offering practical and compassionate support to help them remain independent in their own homes. Michael’s story reflects how small, timely interventions can make a meaningful difference.
Michael, was referred to Revival by Adult Social Care when he was experiencing a range of difficulties. He was dealing with debt concerns, uncertainty about his benefit entitlements, and challenges managing his income. As a result, he was struggling to afford essential items, including food. Alongside these pressures, Michael was also feeling socially isolated and anxious about meeting new people, which was affecting his confidence and wellbeing.
The Revival team spent time listening to Michael and understanding his priorities. To support him with his financial concerns, we helped arrange a referral to PMW so he could access a full benefits check, debt management support, and budgeting advice. This provided reassurance and a clearer understanding of his options moving forward.
Recognising that Michael needed immediate help, we also provided a Revival food parcel and a food voucher for a local food bank. This helped ease some of the immediate stress he was experiencing and ensured he had access to food while longer-term support was being put in place.
As conversations continued, Michael shared his interest in outdoor activities and gardening. We were able to signpost him to Growthpoint’s community gardening opportunities, offering a gentle way to reconnect with others and reduce isolation. This information was also shared with his social worker to support continued engagement and coordinated support.
With these supports in place, Michael is now linked with financial advice services, has had his immediate needs met, and has been introduced to opportunities that support his social wellbeing. He feels more settled and better able to manage day-to-day challenges, helping him to continue living independently in his own home.
Michael’s experience highlights the importance of taking a holistic, person-centred approach. By working in partnership with other services and focusing on what matters to the individual, Revival aims to support people in practical ways that help them move forward at their own pace.
