Independent Living Service customer Eugene* was struggling to leave his home due to mental health issues. After a referral he met Revival Support Worker Jan* who was able to help Eugene*.

“When Eugene came to us, he was at breaking point and didn’t know where else to turn. He’d had a long history with PTSD as an ex-army officer.” Explains Jan*.

“He’d been discharged from mental health services and found himself unable to get out of bed in the morning or leave the house. When he did leave, he would get harassed by his next-door neighbour. On top of all of that, Eugene had issues with hoarding, which made it physically difficult to get around the house.

“He felt alone, frustrated with nowhere to go, and it took a toll on his health and wellbeing.

“I assessed his needs and put a plan in place to help him feel happy at home. I contacted his GP and asked for him to be referred back to mental health services. Set up a prescription delivery service, to make sure he never missed his medication again and got in touch with his housing provider to resolve his neighbour dispute. We also contacted adult health and social care who were able to remove the rubbish from Eugene’s home and help him maintain it too.

“His home is now free from rubbish, he’s no longer being harassed and is looking forward to living independently in a home he loves.”
